Code of Conduct
Fostering a welcoming and collaborative community at every HackHPC event.
Our Commitment
HackHPC is dedicated to providing a safe, inclusive, and harassment-free experience for everyone, regardless of gender, gender identity and expression, age, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, ethnicity, religion (or lack thereof), or technology choices. We do not tolerate harassment of event participants in any form.
Diverse teams building high-performance computing solutions need an environment grounded in mutual respect and consideration — whether the event runs for a single day or several weeks, in person or virtually.
Participant Code of Conduct
All attendees, sponsors, mentors, volunteers, and staff at every HackHPC hackathon, codeathon, training institute, and faculty development program are expected to agree to this code. Organizers enforce it throughout each event to keep things safe for everybody.
Expected Behavior
- Be respectful and considerate: Value the diverse backgrounds, perspectives, and skill levels of your peers. High-performance computing and AI are complex fields; patience and constructive feedback are essential.
- Communicate professionally: Use welcoming and inclusive language. Whether in a video call, Discord channel, or GitHub pull request, keep communication appropriate for a professional audience.
- Collaborate authentically: Share knowledge openly. The primary goal of these events is workforce development and learning — support your teammates and respect the time of the mentors.
Unacceptable Behavior
Unacceptable behaviors include, but are not limited to:
- Harassment, bullying, intimidation, or discrimination in any form.
- Offensive, derogatory, or exclusionary comments related to personal characteristics or technology choices.
- Unwelcome sexual attention or advances.
- Disrupting presentations, workshops, or team meetings — in person or virtually (e.g., call-bombing or spamming chat channels).
- Publishing others' private information, such as physical or electronic addresses, without explicit permission.
Enforcement and Consequences
Participants asked to stop any harassing or unacceptable behavior are expected to comply immediately. If a participant engages in unacceptable behavior, the event's organizers retain the right to take any action they deem appropriate. This includes issuing formal warnings, removing the individual from the event's Discord servers and GitHub organizations, or banning them from future events without a refund of any associated fees or prizes.
Reporting an Incident
If you are subject to or witness unacceptable behavior, or have any other concerns, notify the organizing team immediately. Because HackHPC runs many events with their own staff, the fastest way to reach someone is directly:
- Message event staff directly: Reach out on that event's Discord or Slack to the Lead Organizer or anyone with the "Admin" or "Staff" role.
- Contact a core organizer: Reach one of the program's organizers listed on the Organizers page.
Reports are handled confidentially by the organizing team for that event.
